Eat8flowers is a little farm I started over 15 years ago. I had always dreamed of having gardens & goats and sharing them with children/families in need. I am not a profit-focused or typical structured farm. The gardens are spread around the yard and companion-planted with sensory components. My initial focus is on the art of gardening and creating a place that invites a relationship for humans, creatures, and plants. I cautiously consider all senses as I plant- colors, smells, tastes, textures, and the quiet voices of the herbs. As various plants flourish, they become inspiration for what I bake for farmers’ markets- herb breads & flower essence cookies. I also grow herbs for teas and remedies. I have been a part of farmers markets as long as I have had a farm. I also raise goats for milk, cheese & meat, and an assortment of birds for rainbow eggs. My original intention for the farmers market was to make enough to feed the animals and buy more plants, but also ignite others’ interest in relationships to plants and the food they eat. I have been very active in creating farm art programs, parties, and visits. I have fostered and supported children with disabilities and trauma, facilitated intergenerational relationships, coordinated with herbal groups, and hosted various farm tours with discussions around growing relationship gardens.

After 4 back surgeries and chronic health problems, I realize that I am more limited in my capabilities versus my vision. I am hoping to find the right fit of someone/s who wants to get their hands dirty planting and pulling weeds, take moments to appreciate the butterfly ‘tea parties’, and understand that farm profit is in part the relationship you have with your customers. My gardens have the capability to grow more unique vegetables and harvest more herbs to sell in more locations. so, apprenticing with me can be in part commission as we work to make greater yield. my business and advertising skills are very basic, as i spend most of my energy hands on in the yard, but attending my markets gives time to discuss simple bookkeeping practices and profit margins.
